Greg Brief

The Brief:  Capture the remaining 5 signature shots (1 portrait, 4 landscape) of exterior buildings as indicated below. JPEGs for web, TIFF for print. Use in on-going marketing.

The Goal:  Showcase Portland’s waterfront communities and lifestyle.

Notes:

  • Photos requiring reshoot are indicated below, otherwise the existing photos are fine.
  • Photos requiring reshoot need not be taken at the same angle or composition.
  • Photos need not be taken from afar.
  • Ground-level stills
  • No aerial stills or video
  • Photos of building signage and community amenities are okay.
  • The John Ross meets the standard for the portrait magazine cover.
  • Reaction to the Atwater and Meriwether sets were universal: the photos suffered from too much visual distortion. I tried my best to correct in PS, but I just don't have the skills.

Shot Sheet and Comments

Atwater Place

Comments:  everyone we show the photos to agree there's a bizarre curvature to the buildings. It's unclear if they can be salvaged. If there is any doubt, reshoot.

John Ross

Comments:  best magazine cover in the series... well done. This is exactly what I'm looking for in all our Portrait photos. I'm not sure what happened re: the missing pic. The entrance with building signage has been shot well many times and is an easy get. Also, the commons around the John Ross are easy and interesting to shoot, would be nice to have some variety.

Meriwether Towers

Comments:  the existing shots of the towers would be acceptable IF you can correct the perspective distortion... and that means more than just ensuring vertical lines are straight. Everyone we show the photos to agree there's a bizarre curvature to the buildings.

The Strand

Comments:  There's an obvious missing shot of the old Lucier restaurant next to the Strand (was in the scouting report). It's so visually cool. The Portrait of The Strand will work as a fallback, but it feels too closeup.

RiverPlace

Comments:  The RiverPlace condos sit above the restaurants and shops on the esplanade.  It's an ideal opportunity to capture the architecture + lifestyle. Not sure what happened.

Comments:  The portrait shot wasn't a magazine cover.

Waterfront Pearl

Comments:  Aside from missing the Portrait shot, where's the shot depicting the two buildings in an establishing shot?

Pacifica Tower

Comments:  Portrait need not be necessarily of the front. Building should be full frame, however. Also, Pacifica markets itself as being only 100 feet from the river. Would be great to experience that visually.
