Portland Waterfront Living
South Waterfront
The South Waterfront District is located just south of Downtown Portland. Lovely walking trails wind along the river, native gardens sprout between beautifully modern buildings, gatherings at the farmers market and eateries of all ilk adorn this South Portland neighborhood. Oregon Health Sciences University has a substantial footprint here and enjoys the direct connection to the main hospital via the Aerial Tram. In early winter, you can check out the Portland Winter Light Festival, which spans the Tilikum Crossing and is held at both OMSI and Zidell Yards. Doggy parks, shopping and juice companies and more abound. In other words, everything you’d expect from a thriving Portland neighborhood.
Atwater Place
Atwater Place is an exceptional property. Rising from the banks of the Willamette river in the South Waterfront District, its gleaming, sculptural facade has become an iconic Portland landmark. But Atwater is so much more than what meets the eye. Its design, relationship with the water and use of space ensure a sense of timelessness and elegance. Designed by Thomas Hacker Associates and GBD Architects, the 23-story building steps back from the river, with the balconies for each unit staggered, giving many of its homes sweeping views of the water and mountains.
Meriwether
The Meriwether was the first residential buildings in the 38-acre South Waterfront District and introduced a new style of living to Portland, Oregon. Located on the banks of the Willamette River, The Meriwether’s two slim glass towers were inspired by the point tower architecture of Vancouver, British Columbia. By shifting the two towers, a courtyard and eco-roofs connect the towers to the river. Townhomes and retail space activate the street. The Meriwether uses the latest sustainable-building techniques to provide residents with a healthier lifestyle for this and future generations. Specific sustainable approaches include non-toxic paint and finishes, wheat board cabinetry, low-flow shower heads and toilets, wood floors and a high-efficiency heating and cooling system, as well as recycled and locally obtained building materials, and exterior sunshades integrated in the curtainwall system and balconies to minimize solar heat gain.
The John Ross
With 24-hour concierge service and amenities for entertaining in any season, The John Ross is eco-urban waterfront living at its best. Living at John Ross in Portland's South Waterfront District includes a sophisticated, urban experience. Relax along the Willamette River or take the streetcar downtown for an evening out.
